OPEN HOUSE

9 days completed and we haven't slowed down one bit! Just a reminder that OPEN HOUSE is Tuesday Sept. 16th at 6:00pm. Mrs. Effa and myself would like to have a grade 1 parent meeting to go over some of the things we do in our classrooms and answer any questions you might have. This should take about 15-20 minutes and then you are free to go! :) We hope to see you all there! Picture day is Wed. Sept 17th...SMILE!!!

I am excited to say that the count down is on!!! I have been busy getting things ready for the first day and that is only making me more excited!! Remember that you don't have to label your child's supplies. This should save you some time as marking on 24 pencils can be tedious! Enjoy your last week of holidays!!!

LAST WEEK.....

Our week: Monday - Meet the Teacher!!! I am excited and sad all at the same time...I'm not ready to say "good bye" to 'my' kids!!! Tuesday - Splash Park (afternoon) Send a towel and bathing suit!! Wednesday - Awards Program (AM) and Talent Show (PM) Thursday - NO SCHOOL FOR KIDS Friday - Pick up report cards **I WILL NOT be here Friday!!! Mrs. Domres will be handing out 1H report cards.

Field trip

The field trip to Good Spirit Lake tomorrow is a GO...RAIN or SHINE!! Please dress appropriately (for weather). *No Flip Flops *Send a bigger healthy lunch *Bug Spray *Water Bottle Bus leave at 9:00am!

Pow wow learning trip!

Friday field trip to YRHS Pow Wow...The bus is leaving at 10:00am *Please put sunscreen and Bug spray on your child in the morning. *Please send your child to school with a lunch, extra healthy snack, water bottle, and a hat. *We will be eating out lunch 'picnic style' at Century Field *We will board the bus to return to school at 11:55. We will have an afternoon snack since we are eating a bit earlier. (Please send a snack for the pm)

June 6th- Pow-wow!!! Please don't forget to return the field trip permission forms asap!!! We can't go on the trip without those forms returned!! And SPECIAL MEN...please don't forget to let me know if you will be attending the soccer game! We need numbers to be sure we have enough "treats"!!! June is super busy so don't hesitate to call with any questions you have. And don't forget to apply bug spray and sunscreen at home everyday!

DECORATING EGGS

Don't forget to send 4 hard boiled eggs to school tomorrow so we decorate, decorate, decorate!!! And books orders are due too!!!

PINK SHIRT DAY

On Wednesday April 9th, Columbia School will be taking a stand against bullying by wearing pink shirts (or anything PINK!!!)

HAT DAY!

I am so sorry but on the calendar I wrote hat day as tomorrow...It is NOT!!! It is on WED. April 2nd If the children bring $2.00, they can wear a hat all day. The $2.00 is going towards families in our communities that need a helping hand. With the $2.00 donation, your child will receive a ticket to the student-teacher benefit hockey game which is on April 2nd as well!!!! If you cannot attend the game the ticket will still get you a free snack sized smoothie at McDonalds!!!

one week down...

So, we all survived the first week back after the winter break! The first 3 days made me want to cry (tooooo coooolllldd!!!) but the last two days we were able to get outside and PLAY!!! Today we had an assembly where we were told something SUPER EXCITING (I will let them tell you the news)...I will give you a hint, it involves a book! If you have any questions fell free to ask. (And a heads up...you can read ahead if need be)! :) Just keep the ending a secret! We starting our 2014 "Pay-it-Forward" lessons. You all got a card and paper to fill out how you and your child 'paid-it-forward'! This is such a powerful message to teach our youth...please help spread the message of how to PAY-IT-FORWARD! If you need more cards I have more and will send them home with your child! We have started a unit on BEARS...This is by far one of the students favourite! We will be learning about non-fiction vs fiction, beginning, middle and ends of a story, retelling, finding facts, and seeing all of the different ways we can learn about bears (magazines, technology, books, etc). SO FUN!!!! Enjoy the beautiful weather!!!
